A civic-scale clinic site for Rivas: appointments, laboratory, pharmacy and a directory of specialists — designed for families, not for dashboards.

Client
Policlínica María Inmaculada
Location
Rivas, Nicaragua — facing Parque Evaristo Carazo
Users
Patients and families looking for a specialty, a doctor, a lab exam or a pharmacy without calling three times.

The brief

A polyclinic that offers consultation, clinical laboratory and pharmacy cannot afford a brochure website. Patients need to find a specialty, a doctor, a way to request an appointment, and a path to the pharmacy or lab. The tone had to be calm, clinical and local — and the information architecture had to hold eighteen specialties without becoming a directory dump.

Approach

I structured the product as three pillars — medical care, laboratory, pharmacy — with a shared appointment gesture. Color is clinical teal on white; photography is of the building and of care, never of stock hospitals. Specialties are browsable; featured physicians (cardiology, pediatrics, gynecology, radiology) humanize the directory. Express pharmacy and urban delivery in Rivas are first-class services, not footnotes.

What shipped

A public clinic portal with appointment requests, exam consultation for the laboratory, medication lookup for the pharmacy, a specialist directory, WhatsApp attention for the pharmacy, and clear location and contact. Specialties range from internal medicine and pediatrics to neurology, surgery and nutrition. The interface is large-type, high-contrast and usable on a phone in a waiting room.

Outcome

Patients can orient themselves before they arrive. The clinic presents as an institution that takes digital attention as seriously as in-person care. The demo is a complete public front, not a landing page.

Constraints

No real medical records. Appointment requests are requests, not an EMR. Pharmacy WhatsApp is for orientation and urban delivery, not a prescription vault. Contrast and type size must work for older patients.

What I would not change

Eighteen specialties live behind a calm directory, not a dump. The three pillars (care, lab, pharmacy) share one appointment language so the family does not learn three products.

If you are building a product, modernizing an operation or exploring a digital idea, I would like to hear about it.
